Ken called the meeting to order.
The agenda was approved by David H. seconded by Kathy.
Declaration of Conflict: None.
Previous minutes were approved as written by Nicole seconded by David H.
Business Arising:
Ken reported that Elinor Barr had approved us using information and pictures from her book on our web page. Barb agreed to send out condolence cards and asked for an updated membership list. Ken agreed to contact Peter to ask for a date to have the May meeting at his place.
President’s report: Ken highlighted events that would be happening over the year. Discussion followed as to whether we should host a harbour cruise. It was agreed to put this in the parking lot. Events for the year include:
Midsummers on June 21 at Mount Baldy
Pass Lake 100th anniversary August 24/25
Annual meeting October
Julefest in December
Treasurers Report: David H. reported the current chequing account is $17,554.24, investments $236,159.27 with $5,030.55 disbursements. It was moved by David H. and seconded by Barb to approve the budget to February 21, 2024, as presented.
Membership: Darrell reported that he continues to work on updating the membership list for 2024 with Beatrice Metzler. An updated list will be available shortly. It was moved by Darrell and seconded by Kathy to accept his report.
Strategic Planning: Darrell reported that he continues to work with Henry Connor on the web page and hopes to have a presentation on it at the next meeting. He has put together a compendium of photographs for the page. The web page landing page will have a flag representation of who we are, our logo, a menu bar, and a history tab. There will be a member only section which will include names, possibly email addresses, minutes, correspondence and the memorial board. Tentatively our domain will be www.shs.nwo.org. It was moved by Ken and seconded by David H. to accept the report.
Social: David H. provided a breakdown of costs for Julefest in December. Costs included – hall $3268, decorations $1130, food extras $318, ticket printing $158, music $1500, table decorations $530, liquor $838, liquor license $150, band $1500. Total $7890 which resulted in a subsidy of $1576.
It was noted that it was a very successful event – the map on back of tickets was favorable, suggested music over dinner.
New Business: Ken led a discussion about how we could get involved in Pass Lake’s 100th anniversary in August including – a booth, organize a bus to the event, presenting a plaque, presentation of a donation. It was agreed to defer this to the April meeting.
Discussion on whether to be part of the Multiculture Event in May. It was agreed to place this in the parking lot.
